You may have noticed that the name of this blog has changed. It's grown longer - from "Non-Lethal Weapons Campaign" to "Non-Lethal Weapons for Peace Campaign".
Why? Well, it became apparent that there are various agencies promoting non-lethal weapons for civil protection and as an added capacity for the military. There's no problem with this because it helps to highlight the usefulness of non-lethal weapons.
The focus of this campaign, though, is more specific. It promotes the adoption of non-lethal technology to ADVANCE WORLD PEACE.
As many people agree, the word 'weapon' is still a problem because of its association with violence. At present however the term 'non-lethal weapon' is probably the most widely accepted for devices which offer a non-lethal alternative to lethal weapons.
In the future we may develop new terminology. "Non-Lethal Technology" goes part of the way, though it does not completely convey the context.
Any ideas for some new words to replace 'non-lethal weapons'?
